9.3 Release of Prisoners Convicted of Offences Against Children

This policy is currently under review - May 2020

When a prisoner convicted of offences against a child is to be released at the end of her/his sentence the director of children’s services and chief probation officer must, prior to the release date, be informed by the prison probation officer.

If there are children at the household where the prisoner intends to live, a child protection enquiry must be initiated (see Information Sharing Procedure).
